On this page are photos I took while we were visiting Goldfield, NV. I first passed thru Goldfield in 1993 and there were more people living there then. There was a gas station, and a small restaurant.
Goldfield's population is now down to around 220. It is the county seat of Esmeralda County. I was told by one of the locals that if we were to stop by the courthouse, the judge would give us a personal tour, as that she doesn't have very much to do aside from processing traffic tickets......which is a good thing when you think about it.
The sheriff's office consists of the Sheriff and four deputies. We noticed about five inmate playing pickup basketball behind the fence at the detention center.
As for Goldfield's future, I can't tell you what it is. It's a stop on US95 between Las Vegas and Reno. Some people say it's a ghost town. Me, I will say that there are some interesting buildings and places to look at and photograph. From a visit to Google Maps earlier this evening, it's a place I want to check out again, and spent more time wandering around.
